How is the Home Meal Prep different than ahhYaY's take out ordering?

It's different in a few ways. First, the Home Meal Prep meals are packaged with the knowledge that you may not consume them for a few days. So they aren't dressed, sauces are on the side. Hot items are separated by parchment paper from cold items so it makes it easy for you to warm the correct items when you wish to enjoy the meal. They are not warm when we deliver the Home Meal Prep, as this would dry out the meal when you are putting them into your fridge anyway. Whereas a take out meal from ahhYaY is designed to be enjoyed right away, so we package it warmed. Second, it's not the same menu. Although there are some items that can be found on both menus, there are more dinner meals, as well as snacks, local products, grocery type items, as well as family size items, meal kits, and more to come.... on the Home Meal Prep site.

Is this a subscription?

No. You are free as a bird to place an order when it works best for you and your busy schedule. Because your order will not auto-ship, or auto-renew, be sure to check back for new menu updates and place your order each week.

Does the menu change?

Yes. Our meal offerings include the best of the season from local producers, some items from our cafe's menu, and some items that are created exclusively for this meal prep program. Menu items that are most popular will remain, and a portion will change and evolve.

How long do the meals last once I receive them?

We expect the meals to last up to three days in your refrigerator. Vegan options may last longer. If there is chicken or steak in some of your meals we recommend consuming these dishes first for optimal freshness. We are working on developing options that would be Freezer Friendly as well. Please let us know if you are interested in Freezer Friendly dishes.

May I customize a dish?

Not at this time. We purposely designs some meals to be very simple and clean eating to avoid ingredients that are commonly avoided. We hope you can find something that fits your requirements from our evolving menu.

When is the deadline for ordering?

Please make sure to have your order processed a minimum of two full days before the pick-up/delivery date that is posted so that we have time to source and prepare your selections.

What are the current pick-up/delivery days?

Tuesdays and Thursdays. We will expand this in the future. Make sure to have your order in 2 days before the pick-up date.

Is there a minimum order?

Yes. As we launch this program we are keeping the minimum low at three meals.

Do you do deliver?

Yes. As we are just starting this program we are currently delivering within Kamloops City limits. Our goal is to expand soon! Our delivery days and times will change as we grow but for our start-up we are delivering between 4-6pm on your selected date. If those delivery times don't work for your schedule please contact us and we will work something out that works for us both. If you'd like to save the delivery fee, you are welcome to pick up your order from our cafe at 101- 311 Columbia Street.

Can I pick up my order?

Yes. Save the delivery fee and pick up your order at our bricks and mortar cafe on your pick up day between 11am and 3pm. We are located at unit 101- 311 Columbia Street. The pick up hours are currently limited on account of Covid-19 between 11am -3pm. These will expand in the future. If that window does not work with your schedule please contact us and we will work with you to find a time that works for us both.

Where can I park when I come to pick up my order?

There is a 10 minute loading zone outside our front door located at street level on Columbia Street, across the road from Starbucks. Please make use of this as you swing by to pick up your meal prep order. We also have 3 reserved parking stalls in the parkade behind our cafe. They are the last 3 stalls before you exit the parkade on P1. Our address is 101-311 Columbia Street.

Do you have the nutritional break down for each meal?

Not yet. But we are working on it. The good news is that everything is made from scratch with whole foods. Including our dressings!
